1. Diwali (Deepavali)

  • Significance: Festival of lights, celebrating the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.

  • Religious Context:

    • Hinduism: Marks Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana.

    • Jainism: Lord Mahavira attained Nirvana on this day.

    • Sikhism: Bandi Chhor Divas (release of Guru Hargobind Ji).


🎨 2. Holi

  • When: March

  • Significance: Festival of colors, celebrating love, joy, and the arrival of spring.

  • Religious Context: Based on the legend of Prahlad and Holika, symbolizes the triumph of devotion over evil.


🕉️ 3. Navratri / Durga Puja / Dussehra

  • When: September–October

  • Significance: Celebrates the divine feminine energy and the victory of goddess Durga over Mahishasura.

  • Dussehra: Also commemorates Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana.


🛕 4. Ganesh Chaturthi

  • When: August–September

  • Significance: Birth of Lord Ganesha, remover of obstacles.

  • Celebrations: Involve grand installations of Ganesha idols, prayers, and immersion in water.


🪔 5. Raksha Bandhan

  • When: August

  • Significance: Celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters.

  • Rituals: Sisters tie a rakhi (sacred thread) on their brothers' wrists, seeking protection and love.
